The Birmingham Parent Carer Forum Management Committee met with Dr Tim O'Neill (Director, Education and Skills) and Nichola Jones (Assistant Director) at our final committee meeting of the year this week. There was a healthy conversation around moving forward together and helping shape services to deliver better outcomes for our membership. We’re looking forward to continuing this relationship in the new year and will keep our membership posted as always. Thank you for your continued support.

 Birmingham Parent Carer Forum (BPCF) is a group of Parent Carers who want to make a difference for children/young people and families.
If you live in Birmingham and have a child/young person aged up to 25 with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), we would love you to join us as a voluntary Parent Carer Representative. Why should I get involved? To achieve our aims we need to hear parents’ views and experiences and are looking to grow our membership. To that end we need Parent Carer Representatives to join our team and help us expand our reach across Birmingham. You will play a vital part in the strategic direction of the services provided for SEND children, young people and their families in Birmingham. You will be helping to make a difference! How much time do I need to commit? We understand that you have busy family lives so the role is very flexible but it does require a level of commitment. We want you to shape the role to suit however much or little time you can dedicate. What is the role of a Parent Carer Representative?
Interested? Complete an online application form here. We look forward to hearing from you!  We hosted our event on Preparing for Adulthood last month. For those of you who had requested it we are providing the slides and review guide for download below. It was a very informative event, helping to put the written information into context with some crucial discussion points. In addition we handed out a short survey which you can also fill out until the end of August. Please share it and fill it out and get it back to us as this helps determine the direction of this important workstream which is a priority stream for both the forum and the authority. 
 Birmingham SEND Partnership SEND Parent and Carer Survey, June 2019 As part of the ongoing work to improve SEND services in the Birmingham local area following the SEND Inspection carried out in June 2018, there is a commitment from the SEND Partnership to conduct regular Parent and Carer surveys. The first of these took place in November 2018, and this serves as a baseline against which future surveys can be analysed. The results of the latest survey carried out between 29th May and 14th June 2019 can be downloaded below.
